The New Delhi Municipal Council approved 28 major agendas on September 21, 2026, combining cleaner transport with healthcare, infrastructure upgrades, and consumer relief. Announced after the council meeting by Vice-Chairman Kuljeet Chahal, the decisions place electric mobility at the centre of the civic body’s sustainability strategy. Under the NDMC EV-Only Procurement mandate, every new municipal vehicle purchased will be electric, supporting lower tailpipe emissions across New Delhi.
The council also confirmed discounted EV parking, smarter parking operations, improved street lighting, water-bill relief, and plans for a new AYUSH hospital, creating a broad package of environmental and public-service reforms for residents.
NDMC EV-Only Procurement requires every acquired civic vehicle to be electric. EV owners will receive a 50% parking-fee concession at NDMC-managed facilities.

The NDMC EV-Only Procurement policy aims to curb air pollution and accelerate the civic fleet’s clean-energy transition. Discounted parking further encourages residents to choose EVs.

Infrastructure and Healthcare Push
The Intelligent Integrated Parking System could reduce congestion and pollution while generating over ₹7 crore in minimum monthly revenue. New six-to-11-metre lighting poles, cables, and related infrastructure will address dark spots.
The council plans a ₹55 crore AYUSH Hospital and Research Centre in Sarojini Nagar through a 50:50 partnership between the housing ministry and NDMC. The council will also tender a technology-led examination centre in Moti Bagh to improve transparency and prevent malpractice.
The council additionally approved replacing ageing Connaught Place escalators. Together, the NDMC EV-Only Procurement decision and wider reforms signal cleaner, safer, and more efficient urban services.
