The electric vehicle market is becoming more competitive than ever, and XPeng appears ready to make a major impact with its upcoming LO3 electric SUV. Based on early previews, Xpeng LO3’s first impressions suggest that this new model could become one of the company’s best-selling vehicles by combining premium technology, impressive driving range, and an affordable price tag. Designed as part of XPeng’s Mona series, the LO3 is expected to strengthen the brand’s presence across global markets and challenge established rivals in the budget EV segment.

Stylish Design with Excellent Aerodynamics
The first thing that stands out in Xpeng LO3’s first impressions is its sleek coupe-inspired SUV styling. Measuring around 4.6 meters in length, the LO3 features a sporty fastback silhouette, a full-width rear LED light bar, and an aerodynamic body with a drag coefficient of approximately 0.22–0.228 Cd.
To further improve efficiency, XPeng has equipped the SUV with active front air ducts that automatically open when additional cooling is required for the battery and electric motor. Unlike many modern EVs, the LO3 also uses traditional physical door handles, making daily use more convenient while complying with upcoming regulations in China.
Premium Cabin Offers Comfort Beyond Its Price
Inside, the LO3 delivers a surprisingly premium experience for an affordable electric SUV. The cabin features high-quality materials similar to XPeng’s higher-end models, along with a large high-definition central touchscreen and a head-up display.
Wireless smartphone charging comes as standard, while customizable ambient lighting stretches across the dashboard and into the doors, giving the cabin a modern appearance.
Comfort is another highlight. The front passenger seat includes a “zero-gravity” reclining function with an integrated massage feature, allowing occupants to relax during long journeys. Rear passengers benefit from generous legroom, adjustable seatbacks with up to five degrees of recline, rear air vents, cup holders, and phone storage compartments.
Practical Features for Everyday Life
One of the biggest surprises from Xpeng LO3’s first impressions is the SUV’s impressive practicality. The rear cargo area offers more than 500 litres of luggage space, while the front trunk adds over 100 litres of extra storage.
The interior also includes numerous hooks, magnetic attachment points, and modular mounting areas for accessories such as smartphones, GoPro cameras, and other travel equipment. Even the boot features customizable attachment panels that can be used to secure outdoor gear, including fishing equipment.
Battery, Performance, and Driving Range
Although complete specifications are yet to be officially announced, XPeng has confirmed that the LO3 will be available with two Lithium Iron Phosphate (LFP) battery options: 56 kWh and 69 kWh.
These battery packs are expected to deliver between 505 km and 650 km of driving range under the CLTC testing cycle, translating to an estimated 400–530 km under the more realistic WLTP standard.
Power comes from a single 183 kW (245 hp) electric motor, providing strong acceleration and efficient everyday performance. In addition to the fully electric version, an Extended Range Electric Vehicle (EREV) variant with a 1.5-litre petrol-powered generator is expected to offer a combined driving range exceeding 1,000 km.
Advanced Self-Driving Technology
Technology is one of the LO3’s biggest selling points. XPeng equips the SUV with its self-developed Turing AI chips and the latest VLA 2.0 intelligent driving system. This advanced driver-assistance platform is designed to compete directly with Tesla’s Supervised Full Self-Driving system.
In several international markets, XPeng is also expected to include these advanced autonomous driving features without requiring costly subscription fees, making premium technology more accessible to mainstream buyers.
Global Launch and Market Position
XPeng plans to introduce the LO3 across 63 international markets as part of its rapid global expansion strategy. With expected aggressive pricing, the SUV is positioned to compete directly against affordable electric crossovers such as the BYD Atto 3 and Geely EX5.
Overall, Xpeng LO3’s first impressions indicate that this upcoming electric SUV successfully combines premium comfort, advanced technology, practical features, competitive driving range, and affordable pricing. If the final production model delivers on these early expectations, the LO3 could become one of the most significant mainstream electric SUV launches in the global EV market.
