Maruti Suzuki Partners with Five Startups to Deploy EV Battery Recycling and Generative AI

India’s largest passenger vehicle manufacturer, Maruti Suzuki India Limited (MSIL), has taken a significant step toward sustainable mobility and digital transformation by announcing partnerships with five innovative startups. Selected from the fifth cohort of the Maruti Suzuki Incubation Program (MSIP), these collaborations will focus on electric vehicle (EV) battery recycling, generative AI, automation, software development, and digital marketing.

The initiative, carried out in collaboration with IIM Bangalore’s startup incubator NSRCEL, highlights the company’s long-term strategy of combining sustainability with advanced technologies. Maruti Suzuki Strengthens Innovation Through Startup Collaboration

As India’s automotive market shifts toward electrification and digitalization, Maruti Suzuki is expanding its corporate innovation strategy by integrating cutting-edge startup solutions into its operations.

The company aims to solve key industry challenges through advanced engineering, artificial intelligence, and environmentally responsible technologies. These partnerships are expected to improve operational efficiency, streamline business processes, and support the company’s transition toward a cleaner mobility future.

MiniMines to Build a Circular EV Battery Recycling Ecosystem

Among the five selected startups, MiniMines plays a crucial role in strengthening Maruti Suzuki’s sustainability roadmap.

The clean-tech startup specializes in recycling end-of-life lithium-ion batteries using a secure and environmentally friendly chemical extraction process. It recovers valuable battery-grade materials such as lithium, cobalt, nickel, and manganese, allowing these critical minerals to be reintroduced into the manufacturing supply chain.

This localized battery recycling ecosystem helps reduce dependence on imported raw materials while addressing future supply constraints. It also supports compliance with India’s upcoming Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) regulations, which require manufacturers to ensure proper collection and recycling of battery waste.

With this initiative, Maruti Partners with Five Startups to establish a more sustainable and circular EV ecosystem in India.

Four AI Startups to Digitally Transform Business Operations

Alongside EV battery recycling, the remaining four startups will modernize Maruti Suzuki’s digital infrastructure using Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Generative AI technologies.

Sarvam AI: Multilingual Customer Support

Sarvam AI will develop multilingual Generative AI-powered conversational agents capable of assisting customers across multiple Indian languages. These AI assistants are expected to improve customer engagement and provide faster, more personalized support across various digital touchpoints.

Easework AI: Procurement Automation

Easework AI will introduce agentic AI systems that automate procurement workflows for indirect consumables such as office supplies, safety equipment, and other non-production assets. This automation will reduce manual intervention while improving purchasing efficiency and vendor management.

Siftly: AI-Powered Marketing Optimization

Siftly will deploy Generative AI solutions to optimize Maruti Suzuki’s digital marketing strategies. Its technology will help improve campaign efficiency, strengthen brand visibility, and deliver more data-driven marketing decisions.

CodeMate AI: Faster Software Development

CodeMate AI will accelerate software development by providing AI-assisted coding tools that help developers build, test, and deploy enterprise applications more efficiently. The platform is expected to reduce development time while improving software quality across internal business systems.

Leadership Highlights Vision for Future Mobility

Commenting on the initiative, Hisashi Takeuchi, Managing Director and CEO of Maruti Suzuki India, emphasized that startups have become essential partners in solving modern business challenges. He stated that combining sustainable EV battery recycling with Generative AI will optimize internal operations while delivering a smarter and more responsive customer experience.

Seven Years of Startup Innovation

The latest partnerships represent another milestone in Maruti Suzuki’s startup engagement journey. Over the past seven years, the company has evaluated nearly 7,400 startups, actively collaborated with more than 250, and successfully onboarded 38 startups to implement practical enterprise solutions.

As India’s automotive sector rapidly evolves, Maruti Partners with Five Startups to reinforce its commitment to sustainable manufacturing, AI-driven innovation, and future-ready mobility. By combining battery recycling with advanced automation and Generative AI, the company is building a stronger foundation for the next generation of electric vehicles and intelligent automotive services.
