Zenobē closes a AU$400 M fleet electrification financing platform, marking a major milestone in the transition to zero-emission heavy transport across Australia and New Zealand. The AU$400 million (US$275.72 million) debt facility is designed to support large-scale deployment of electric heavy vehicle fleets and associated charging infrastructure in both countries.

The financing platform is backed by a syndicate of five international banks, including MUFG Bank, Crédit Agricole CIB, Siemens Bank, Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation (SMBC), and Société Générale. MUFG Bank will serve as the facility’s agent and security trustee.

First Integrated Multi-Site Electrification Platform in ANZ

According to Zenobē, this is the first integrated, multi-site heavy vehicle fleet electrification financing platform established in Australia or New Zealand. The innovative structure allows the company to centralize funding across multiple projects, creating greater scale and reducing financing costs for fleet operators.

The platform launches with four operational seed projects located in Leichhardt, New South Wales, and in Dunedin, West Auckland, and Greater Wellington in New Zealand. These projects provide a proven operational foundation that supports the debt financing structure and demonstrates the viability of large-scale fleet electrification.

Reducing Upfront Costs for Fleet Operators

A key feature of the initiative is its ability to remove major barriers that have traditionally slowed electric fleet adoption. Zenobē closes a AU$400 M fleet electrification platform to provide operators with turnkey depot electrification, long-term chassis and battery leasing, mid-life battery replacement services, and ongoing operational optimization.

By bundling these services into a single financing framework, operators can transition to electric fleets without significant upfront capital investment. Zenobē also assumes technology and battery residual-value risks, reducing uncertainty for transport companies.

Driving Growth in Zero-Emission Transport

Gareth Ridge, Zenobē’s Country Director for Australia and New Zealand, said the financing structure combines operational experience with a strong future project pipeline, delivering greater certainty, scale, and cost efficiency.

He noted that the model enables transport operators to focus on providing cleaner and more reliable services while Zenobē manages the complexities of electrification.

Building on Previous Electrification Initiatives

The announcement follows the company’s AU$100 million truck electrification program launched in March 2026. That initiative aimed to double Australia’s heavy electric truck fleet, which stood at approximately 1,000 vehicles.

With Zenobē’s AU$400 million fleet electrification platform now operational, the company is expected to accelerate the deployment of zero-emission heavy vehicles across the region. Industry experts believe Zenobē’s AU$400 million fleet electrification initiative could become a model for future large-scale transport decarbonization projects worldwide.
