The inauguration reflects rising investor confidence in the state and reinforces its position as an emerging hub for electric vehicle (EV) manufacturing in India.
Strong Leadership Driving Investor Confidence
Addressing the event, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath credited Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership for creating a stable and investor-friendly environment across the country. He said the new EV manufacturing facility symbolizes the transformation Uttar Pradesh has witnessed since 2017, shifting from a state once associated with disorder to one that converts potential into tangible results. Senior leaders, including Defence Minister Rajnath Singh and Union Heavy Industries Minister H D Kumaraswamy, were also present, highlighting the project’s national importance.
Manufacturing Capacity and Green Vision
The newly inaugurated Ashok Leyland EV plant currently has a manufacturing capacity of 2,500 units per year, which will be scaled up in phases to 5,000 units annually. Employment, Skills, and Youth Empowerment
The project is expected to generate direct and indirect employment opportunities for thousands of young people in the state. The Chief Minister announced that the Hinduja Group will sign a memorandum of understanding with the Uttar Pradesh government to provide skill development training to 10,000 youth every year at the facility. ITIs, polytechnics, and engineering institutions are also being strengthened to prepare the workforce for new technologies and future-ready jobs.
Infrastructure and Economic Growth
Highlighting infrastructure development, Adityanath noted that Uttar Pradesh now boasts extensive expressway networks, metro rail services, the country’s largest rail network, two dedicated freight corridors, logistics hubs, rapid rail systems, and inland waterways. Over the past eight to nine years, the state has received investment proposals worth ₹45 lakh crore. Uttar Pradesh contributes 9.5 per cent to the national GDP and is on track to achieve a gross state domestic product of around ₹36 lakh crore this financial year.
EV Ecosystem and Make in India Push

In 2024, Uttar Pradesh accounted for 19 per cent of India’s total EV market and emerged as a key beneficiary of the FAME I and FAME II schemes, with 700 electric buses already operating across the state. The new plant will manufacture a 17–18 seater electric bus, priced at around ₹15 lakh, aimed at school transport and inter-city travel.

With facilitation platforms like Nivesh Mitra, Nivesh Sarathi, and Udyami Mitra ensuring seamless approvals, the EV and auto components ecosystem in the state is growing rapidly.
