India’s electric mobility ecosystem is rapidly evolving, especially in the three-wheeler and light commercial vehicle categories. Strengthening its position in this growing space, TSUYO expands its EV motor and powertrain range with a comprehensive range of next-generation technologies tailored specifically for Indian operating conditions.
Delhi-based TSUYO Manufacturing Pvt Ltd has unveiled an advanced lineup of electric motor and powertrain solutions designed for 3W and LCV applications. The new portfolio focuses on performance, durability, cost efficiency, and reduced dependency on imported materials.
Gen 3.0 IPM Motor & Controller Architecture
At the core of this expansion is the Gen 3.0 IPM motor and controller architecture. The system features external Hall sensor placement and split-phase cabling for better heat dissipation and improved reliability. It also includes:
- Aluminium cast controller housing for durability
- External bootloader access for easier software updates
- LED-based fault indication system for simplified diagnostics
- Upgraded MOSFET technology for higher power applications
This launch clearly reflects how TSUYO expands its EV motor and powertrain range with engineering-focused upgrades rather than incremental changes.
India’s First 3W AMT Solution
A key highlight is the introduction of an Automated Manual Transmission (AMT) solution for electric three-wheelers. Designed particularly for low-power applications, the AMT system enhances:
- Driving range
- Load handling capacity
- Gradeability in urban and semi-urban conditions
This innovation aims to solve real-world challenges faced by commercial EV operators.
Magnet-less SynRM & Hairpin Winding Technology
TSUYO also introduced a patented magnet-less SynRM motor that reduces reliance on rare-earth materials through a novel rotor architecture. This is a strategic move to lower costs and minimize supply chain vulnerabilities.
Additionally, the integration of hairpin winding technology increases power density by nearly 20%, improving performance and extending motor life. Through these innovations, TSUYO expands its EV motor and powertrain range with a strong emphasis on efficiency and sustainability.
Flat Tube Axle for L3 and Mini-L5 Vehicles
The company launched a flat tube axle with a common gear interface for L3 and Mini-L5 vehicles. This design improves load capacity and reduces parts complexity, making fleet maintenance simpler and more cost-effective.
Expansion Strategy and Market Growth
Beyond product innovation, TSUYO is scaling its manufacturing capabilities. The company signed a Letter of Intent with the Government of Karnataka to set up a new facility in Dharwad. This plant will focus on heavy-duty EV powertrains up to 600 kW and include a dedicated testing track for buses and trucks.
To fuel its expansion, TSUYO plans to raise to $20 million over the next 18 months. The company has already delivered over 200,000 motors to more than 50 OEM partners, including Mahindra & Mahindra, Volvo Eicher Commercial Vehicles, and Sonalika.
As TSUYO expands its EV motor and powertrain portfolio, it signals a shift from assembly-led adoption to engineering-led innovation, reinforcing India’s transition toward a stronger, self-reliant EV ecosystem.
