At Busworld 2025 in Brussels, excitement electrified the air as Siemens launched ‘SICHARGE FLEX’ EV Chargers, a groundbreaking innovation set to reshape the future of electric mobility. This next-generation charging system isn’t just about speed — it’s about intelligence, adaptability, and power efficiency. Designed to cater to everything from busy fleet depots to cross-country bus routes, SICHARGE FLEX promises to make EV charging smarter and more flexible than ever before. But what makes it truly revolutionary? Let’s dive into how Siemens is redefining the global EV charging landscape with its most advanced system yet.
Power Meets Intelligence: Dynamic, Distributed Charging
The SICHARGE FLEX family introduces a revolutionary approach to EV charging by combining high power output with intelligent power distribution. The system dynamically allocates energy across multiple charging points based on real-time demand, ensuring every vehicle receives the right power at the right outlet at the right time.
With a power capacity ranging from 480 kW to over 1.68 MW, it supports both CCS (Combined Charging System) and the emerging MCS (Megawatt Charging System) standards — allowing up to four MCS charge points within a single system. Each MCS dispenser can deliver up to 1,500 A of charging current, making it suitable for everything from electric passenger cars to heavy-duty trucks and long-range eBuses.
Compact Design, Maximum Efficiency
One of SICHARGE FLEX’s standout features is its industry-leading power density of 656 kW/m², packed within a compact form factor. The front-in/front-out cooling design allows wall-mounted installation — ideal for space-constrained environments such as urban depots and logistics centers.
Moreover, the system’s modular dispensers can be positioned up to 300 meters away from the central power cabinet, offering unmatched flexibility in site design. Operators can choose from floor-mounted, wall-mounted, or overhead dispensers, adapting the system layout to their operational needs.
Seamless Software Integration and Smart Energy Management
SICHARGE FLEX integrates seamlessly with Siemens’ eMobility ecosystem, offering full control through the Sifinity Control cloud platform. This enables remote monitoring, configuration, and diagnostics, maximizing uptime and efficiency.
For depot operators, integration with DepotFinity provides smart energy management — optimizing charging schedules, minimizing peak loads, and reducing costly grid upgrades. Together, these tools lower the total cost of ownership while maintaining reliable operations.
Early Adoption and Industry Confidence
Even before its commercial release, SICHARGE FLEX has gained strong market traction. OMV, a leading Charge Point Operator and Mobility Service Provider based in Austria, has already placed the first order. The system will be deployed at OMV’s Kufstein site — a strategic hub on the A12 corridor linking Germany and Italy — serving eTrucks, eBuses, and passenger EVs.
Eric Schulze, Senior Vice President of Retail Mobility & Convenience at OMV, noted,
“The Kufstein site exemplifies how we combine strategic location planning with cutting-edge technology to deliver fast, scalable, and future-ready charging solutions.”
Sustainable, Secure, and Future-Ready
Beyond its engineering excellence, SICHARGE FLEX embodies Siemens’ sustainability goals. It enhances grid stability through intelligent power balancing and is built with “Security by Design” principles, including encryption and secure boot protocols for robust cybersecurity.
Expected to be commercially available in 2026, SICHARGE FLEX positions Siemens eMobility at the forefront of the high-power fast-charging revolution — powering fleets, CPOs, and OEMs toward a carbon-neutral future.
