The shift toward cleaner mobility is picking up speed, and one announcement has captured the attention of EV enthusiasts across the nation — Mahindra to deploy 250 EV Charging Stations Across India by 2027. This bold move has sparked curiosity and excitement, hinting at a future where long-distance travel and fast charging are no longer hurdles but everyday convenience. With its new Charge_IN network poised to reshape infrastructure across highways and cities, Mahindra isn’t just following the EV wave — it’s powering it. But how big is this step for India’s electric future? Let’s dive deeper into what this rollout means.

What does the Charge_IN Network offer?

The upcoming charging network is designed with high-speed performance, convenience, and accessibility as its core pillars. Each station will be equipped with 180 kW ultra-fast dual-gun chargers, capable of charging compatible EVs from 20% to 80% in just 20 minutes. Such fast turnaround times are expected to drastically reduce range anxiety — one of the most common concerns for current and prospective EV owners.

Another standout feature is that the Charge_IN stations will not be exclusive to Mahindra vehicles. EV owners of any brand can access the chargers through the dedicated Charge_IN by Mahindra mobile app, as well as other third-party aggregator platforms. This open-network approach reinforces the company’s commitment to developing an inclusive, nationwide charging ecosystem.

Meanwhile, Mahindra EV owners receive added flexibility through the Me4U app, which not only enables quick location-based access and payments but also connects drivers to a broader network of more than 34,000 public charging points across India.

Strategic Location Planning for Better Public Utility

To benefit both daily urban commuters and long-distance interstate travelers, Mahindra plans to install stations along key national highways and major metro routes. These sites will be placed at natural stopover points such as cafes, fuel stations, and restaurants — ensuring comfort and convenience while vehicles recharge.

The first two Charge_IN stations are already operational at Hoskote on the Bengaluru–Chennai Highway (NH 75) and Murthal near Delhi on NH 44, signaling the start of a much larger rollout.

A Step Toward a Greener Mobility Future

Nalinikanth Gollagunta, CEO of Mahindra’s Automotive Division, highlighted the rollout as a major stride toward cleaner, more sustainable transportation. With future models like the XEV 9e and BE 6, offering ranges close to 500 km, the new charging network is expected to further boost consumer confidence in long-distance EV travel.

Mahindra’s Charge_IN initiative has the potential to reshape India’s EV landscape by improving charging accessibility, reducing range barriers, and encouraging greener transportation choices. As 2027 approaches and installations expand across the country, India will move one step closer to an electrified mobility future.
