Hyundai to Unveil IONIQ Concept THREE: Hyundai Motor Company is all set to debut its first-ever compact EV under the IONIQ sub-brand—named Concept THREE—at IAA Mobility 2025 in Munich, running from September 9–14. This unveiling also marks Hyundai’s return to Europe’s largest mobility showcase after a four-year absence—underscoring a renewed commitment to sustainable innovation and the European EV market.

Concept THREE embodies Hyundai’s design evolution—melding the “Art of Steel” with a new Aero Hatch form—and heralds a compact IONIQ EV that could redefine efficiency, affordability, and urban EV appeal. The Munich debut will tell us more, but the hints already show a bright, compact future for electric mobility.

A Fresh Design Direction: “Art of Steel” Meets “Aero Hatch”

The teaser image reveals Concept THREE’s futuristic side profile, shaped by Hyundai’s Art of Steel design philosophy. Inspired by the strength and fluidity of steel, this design approach highlights:

  • Sculpted surfaces with clean intersections
  • Dynamic character lines showcasing motion and precision
  • Sporty yet practical stance with aerodynamic efficiency
  • New Aero Hatch typology blends a coupe-like profile with expressive proportions

This Aero Hatch body style is unique in Hyundai’s EV lineup, carving out a distinct identity for Concept THREE.

Hyundai’s design leaders explain that Concept THREE rethinks the compact EV from the ground up. Simon Loasby, Senior Vice President and Head of Hyundai Design Center, described the silhouette as a “beautifully proportioned sculpture.” Exterior designer Manuel Schoettle added that the steel treatment gives the design a natural purity—crafted to bring a smile to viewers’ faces.
