Hyundai & Kia Join S. Korean Battery Giants: In a landmark move, Hyundai Motor and Kia have launched a comprehensive partnership with South Korea’s premier battery makers—LG Energy Solution, Samsung SDI, and SK On—to strengthen electric vehicle (EV) battery safety and technology. At a ceremony held on August 22, 2025, at the Namyang R&D centre in Hwaseong, these companies revealed the fruits of a yearlong task force collaboration and formalized their next phase through a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU).

  4. Manufacturing quality: Leveraging AI-powered intelligent manufacturing systems to minimize defects and stabilize production. This includes a systematic analysis of production data for enhanced safety.
  5. Fire-fighting technology: Innovating battery cell fire detection and suppression systems. Collaborating with the National Fire Research Institute, they aim to apply real-world safety data to both patent development and revised emergency response guidelines.
