Google Adds Two EV Charging Companies: On September 3, 2025, Google unveiled the newest cohort of its “Google for Startups Accelerator: AI for Energy” — a bold, equity-free innovation program designed to fast-track artificial intelligence solutions across the energy sector. Spanning 10 to 12 weeks, selected startups from North America and Europe will receive dedicated mentorship, technical support, access to Google’s AI tools and cloud infrastructure, along with workshops covering technology, product development, growth strategies, user experience, and leadership.
Among the 29 trailblazing startups chosen, two companies stand out for their innovation in EV charging — Monalee (USA) and Enkel (Denmark). Google emphasized, “We believe AI is a pivotal force in accelerating the essential energy transition,” a philosophy reflected across the entire cohort.
Monalee: AI at Home for Solar & EV Charging
Boston-based Monalee offers an “AI OS” for distributed home energy, unifying solar, battery storage, and EV charging into a seamless experience. Its platform analyzes residential properties using machine learning, then tailors solutions that eliminate intermediaries — simplifying the notoriously complex process of integrating various systems. This innovation addresses a key user challenge: making home charging infrastructure more accessible and efficient. Furthermore, Monalee has secured a US$10 million financing facility from Applied Real Intelligence (A.R.I.), fueling its expansion.
Enkel: Real-Time Optimization for EV Charging Infrastructure
From Denmark, Enkel brings Europe’s smart energy edge to the Accelerator. Its AI-driven charging platform executes sub-second decisions across power markets, optimizing EV charging infrastructure by predicting usage patterns, balancing loads, and integrating renewable energy. As EV infrastructure expands rapidly in Denmark, these capabilities are increasingly critical for grid stability and operational efficiency.
Why This Accelerator Matters — A Strategic Move by Google?
By inviting Monalee and Enkel into this elite cohort, Google is reinforcing its broader energy vision — deploying AI as a transformative force across home and grid energy applications. The program supports innovation across the energy ecosystem, from distributed residential systems to utility-scale grid management.
Participants in both North American and European cohorts benefit from:
- Equity-free support
- Mentorship from Google’s experts and partners
- Access to AI tools, Google Cloud credits, and technical training
- Curricula encompassing AI/ML infrastructure, product design, UX, go-to-market strategies, and leadership
According to Adam Elman, Google’s sustainability director, this initiative is “more than just a program; it’s a commitment to accelerating the essential shift to a clean and resilient energy grid.”
The Path Ahead
For Monalee, participation offers a launchpad to scale its home-focused AI energy tools, enhancing customer accessibility and accelerating adoption of solar and charging solutions. Enkel gains not only Google’s technological backing but also a powerful platform to scale its real-time energy management systems across Europe and beyond.
As EV charging evolves from nascent infrastructure to a fundamental utility, programs like this one are pivotal. By equipping startups like Monalee and Enkel with cutting-edge AI support, Google is helping shape a smarter, more resilient, and cleaner energy future.
