Gurugram is set to take a significant step toward sustainable mobility with the rollout of a comprehensive EV charging station network in Gurugram, planned in two well-defined phases during 2026. The initiative is being spearheaded by the Municipal Corporation of Gurugram (MCG) as part of the city’s Clean Air Action Plan for FY 2025–26.
Two-Phase Rollout Plan Explained
The project will be implemented in collaboration with Convergence Energy Services Limited (CESL), following a memorandum of understanding signed earlier this year. The agreement covers the installation of 20 EV charging stations and 10 battery swapping stations across high-footfall areas in the district.

Phase 1: July to September 2026
In the first phase, 10 EV charging stations and five battery swapping stations will be installed. These will primarily come up near public markets and busy commercial hubs to ensure easy access for daily commuters and commercial EV users.
Phase 2: October 2026 to End-2026
The second phase will add another 10 charging stations and five battery swapping points, focusing on population-dense residential and commercial areas. The entire EV charging station network in Gurugram is expected to be fully operational by the end of 2026.
Rising EV Numbers Drive Infrastructure Demand
The expansion comes amid a steady rise in electric vehicle adoption in the district. According to the Regional Transport Authority data from December 2025, Gurugram recorded 4,154 EV registrations in 2025 alone. This includes 2,071 two-wheelers, 1,530 private four-wheelers, 545 passenger four-wheelers, and eight electric buses.
Officials note that the growing EV fleet has created an urgent need for reliable public charging infrastructure to support green mobility and reduce emissions.
Electric Buses and Dedicated Charging Hubs
Adding to the momentum, around 100 electric buses are expected to arrive under the Centre’s PM e-Bus Sewa Scheme in March 2026. A proposed 7.18-acre electric bus depot in Sector 103, likely to become operational this year, will feature 25 dedicated e-bus charging points, as outlined by the Gurugram Metropolitan Development Authority.
Proposed Locations Under Review
Earlier, civic agencies identified 11 potential locations for EV charging stations, including markets in Sectors 56, 29, and 34, along with areas near Sheetla Mata Mandir, Subhash Chandra Bose Marg, Dundahera Community Centre, and Sector 23A HUDA Market. Each charging point is planned with a capacity of 60 kW, though final site approvals are still pending.
A Step Toward Cleaner Urban Mobility
Once completed, the EV charging station network in Gurugram will significantly strengthen the city’s EV ecosystem, encourage wider adoption, and support public transport electrification. The phased approach ensures systematic expansion while aligning infrastructure growth with rising demand—marking a decisive move toward a cleaner, future-ready Gurugram.
