When Andhra Pradesh signs a 515-Crore EV Mobility Agreement with a ThunderPlus-led consortium, it signals far more than a routine policy update—it marks the beginning of a transformative leap toward cleaner, smarter mobility across the state. Announced at the Andhra Pradesh Partnership Summit in Visakhapatnam, this ambitious initiative promises to reshape how citizens travel, connect, and experience urban transport. With cutting-edge EV fleets, ultra-fast charging corridors, and a massive infrastructure boost on the way, the big question is: how will this ₹515-crore move redefine the future of mobility in Andhra Pradesh? Dive in to find out.

The state government has partnered with ThunderPlus, ETO Motors, and Roqit to establish a multi-modal electric vehicle network expected to create over 5,000 jobs across Andhra Pradesh.

A Vision for Clean and Connected Mobility

The state’s collaboration with the consortium aims to build a comprehensive EV ecosystem that seamlessly integrates manufacturing, fleet operations, charging networks, and digital ticketing. This forward-looking program is set to transform Andhra Pradesh into a leading hub for clean mobility and modern urban transport.

Chief Minister Naidu reviewed the consortium’s mobility blueprint and assured full government support, including fast-track clearances, to accelerate implementation. The initiative is expected to generate over 5,000 jobs, with 1,450 direct and 3,100 indirect employment opportunities. A notable focus is placed on women-led roles across fleet operations, charging station management, mobility management, and customer service.

Robust Charging Infrastructure Led by ThunderPlus

ThunderPlus will spearhead the development of the state’s EV charging backbone. The company plans to deploy:

  • 120 kW chargers every 25 km
  • 1 MW ultra-fast chargers every 100 km along highways and intercity corridors

These installations will ensure uninterrupted EV travel across the state. ThunderPlus already operates a 3 MW mega charging hub in Vijayawada and 0.5 MW facilities in Nellajarla and Visakhapatnam. Additionally, the company is working on electrifying segments of the Visakhapatnam–Chennai Industrial Corridor, a critical economic route.

Two Regional Clusters to Kickstart Operations

The program will roll out in two primary clusters:

  1. Amaravati Capital Region – covering Gannavaram Airport, Vijayawada, Amaravati, and Guntur
  2. Visakhapatnam Urban Region – including NAD Junction, Pendurty, Simhachalam, and Dwarakanagar

These zones will host the initial fleet of multi-modal EV shuttles, setting the stage for wider state-level expansion.

Unified Mobility Through Digital Integration

Roqit will power the state’s mobility experience through a single unified ticketing platform, enabling seamless travel across various transport modes via one digital application. Meanwhile, ETO Motors will contribute to developing a dependable and user-friendly urban mobility system.

Shaping Andhra Pradesh’s Green Future

With coordinated efforts from the consortium, the Andhra Pradesh Economic Development Board, municipal bodies, transport departments, and industrial corridor authorities, the state is poised to become a national leader in EV mobility infrastructure. This partnership marks a decisive step towards cleaner cities, efficient connectivity, and sustainable economic growth.
