A Major Step for EV Infrastructure in Andhra Pradesh
India’s electric mobility sector continues to expand rapidly, and a new infrastructure project near Vijayawada is set to strengthen this transition. ThunderPlus and Evey Trans have announced a strategic partnership to develop a high-capacity electric vehicle charging hub in Andhra Pradesh. The project represents one of the state’s most significant EV infrastructure initiatives in recent months and highlights the growing collaboration between charging network operators and electric fleet companies.
High-Capacity Charging Hub at Kunchanapalli
The new charging hub will be developed on a one-acre site in Kunchanapalli, located in the Tadepalli region near Vijayawada. The facility will feature a total installed power capacity of 1.6 MW, making it one of the highest-capacity EV charging facilities in the state.

As part of this initiative, ThunderPlus and Evey Trans plan to install seven DC fast chargers, along with battery swapping infrastructure and dedicated fast charging stations for electric two-wheelers. The facility is designed to support a large number of vehicles simultaneously, with the capacity to accommodate more than 50 electric buses and over 100 electric cars at the same time. This capability will make the hub an important charging destination for commercial fleets and private EV users.
Integrated Operations and Fleet Support
Beyond charging infrastructure, the facility will function as a comprehensive EV operations center. The hub will include bus servicing and repair bays, spare parts storage areas, driver rest zones, boarding facilities, driver training areas, and vehicle washing and maintenance zones.
These additional facilities are designed to reduce operational downtime for commercial fleets and improve turnaround efficiency. By combining charging with maintenance and operational support, ThunderPlus and Evey Trans aim to create a centralized location where electric fleet operators can manage their vehicles more efficiently.
Strategic Location Along a Key Transport Corridor
The charging hub’s location is another major advantage. Kunchanapalli sits along the Hyderabad–Vijayawada corridor, one of South India’s busiest intercity routes. This highway carries a heavy flow of passenger buses, freight vehicles, and private automobiles every day.
By positioning the facility along this corridor, the charging hub will support electric buses traveling between Vijayawada and other major cities while also serving logistics companies and private EV owners undertaking long-distance travel. Industry experts believe such projects are essential for enabling reliable intercity electric mobility in India.
Supporting the Growth of Electric Mobility
The collaboration between ThunderPlus and Evey Trans reflects a broader trend in India’s EV ecosystem, where charging network operators are partnering with fleet companies to build large-scale infrastructure. Evey Trans currently operates around 3,300 electric buses across more than 50 cities, covering seven states and two union territories, and collectively traveling over 800,000 kilometers daily.
With EV adoption increasing and government incentives supporting the sector, high-capacity charging hubs along major transport corridors are becoming crucial. Once operational, the Vijayawada facility is expected to significantly strengthen EV charging availability along one of Andhra Pradesh’s most important transport routes and help accelerate the shift toward sustainable transportation.
