Volvo Cars Introduces Entry-Level EX30 as part of its strategy to make premium electric mobility more accessible while enhancing everyday practicality. The updated compact SUV lineup now includes a new base variant designed specifically for urban commuters, combining efficiency, compact proportions, and expanded functionality through Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) capability.
Urban-Focused Powertrain and Performance
At the heart of the new configuration is a rear-mounted electric motor producing 110 kW (approximately 148 hp), paired with a 51 kWh lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery pack. This setup prioritizes efficiency and weight optimization, making it ideal for daily city commutes.
The model delivers a WLTP-certified driving range of up to 339 kilometers. While this is lower than extended-range versions, it comfortably meets typical urban driving needs. With a compact 4.2-metre length and a tight 10.6-metre turning circle, the SUV is engineered for maneuverability in congested traffic and tight parking spaces.
Reinforcing its city-friendly approach, Volvo Cars introduces the Entry-Level EX30, featuring advanced safety technology, including a door-opening alert system designed to prevent “dooring” incidents involving cyclists or pedestrians — a crucial feature in dense urban environments.
Bidirectional Charging: Vehicle-to-Load Capability
One of the most significant updates is the addition of Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) functionality. The EX30 is hardware-ready to supply power to external devices through an optional adapter connected to the charging port. This enables users to run small appliances, camping equipment, tools, or even electric bikes directly from the vehicle.
Although the hardware is already integrated into new units, activation will take place via an over-the-air (OTA) software update scheduled for summer 2026. Importantly, existing EX30 owners will receive this V2L capability at no additional cost through the same OTA update.

Interior Enhancements and Sustainability
Inside the cabin, Volvo continues its strong sustainability focus. The EX30 incorporates recycled materials such as PET bottles, repurposed denim, and flax-based components. Two new interior themes have been added: ‘Harvest,’ featuring light-toned recycled textiles, and ‘Black,’ offering a minimalist dark Nordico finish.
The 12.3-inch central display now features a redesigned interface with a customizable toolbar and relocated controls for improved accessibility while driving.
Market Rollout and India Pricing
The updated configuration will roll out gradually, starting in Europe before expanding to other regions, including Brazil, in the second half of 2026. In India, the EX30 launched at an introductory price of ₹39.99 lakh, later revised to ₹41 lakh, though variant-specific details may vary by market.
With this update, Volvo Cars introduces the Entry-Level EX30 as a practical, city-centric electric SUV that blends compact efficiency, digital innovation, and next-generation charging flexibility.
