EKA Mobility Supplies 9-Meter EV Buses to AIIMS New Delhi: EKA Mobility, a pioneering electric vehicle and technology company, has recently completed the delivery of three 9-metre electric buses to the All-India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), New Delhi. This milestone initiative, funded under the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) program of the Power Grid Corporation of India (PGCIL), marks a significant step toward inclusive, sustainable, and efficient last-mile connectivity within the AIIMS campus.

Securing the Order & Ceremony

Through a tender floated by AIIMS on the Government of India’s e-Marketplace (GeM) portal, EKA Mobility secured the order via a reverse auction—a transparent and competitive procurement method. The delivery became official at a flag-off ceremony attended by Shri R.K. Tyagi, Chairman & Managing Director of PGCIL, Dr. M. Srinivas, Director of AIIMS, and other senior dignitaries from both organizations, including Shri Yatindra Dwivedi, Shri Vikram Singh Bhal, Shri Jasbir Singh, and Shri Alok Kumar Sharma.

Comfort, Accessibility & Inclusion

Designed with passenger comfort and inclusivity in mind, the buses feature a “23 + 1” seating layout with push-back seats to enhance passenger ease. More importantly, each vehicle includes a wheelchair and hydraulic lift, ensuring seamless mobility for differently-abled passengers, allowing them to travel with dignity and ease.

Sustainable, Safe & Efficient Transport

Beyond comfort and accessibility, these electric buses epitomize sustainability. As zero-emission vehicles, they support AIIMS’s move toward greener campus mobility solutions. Built on EKA Mobility’s advanced 9M platform, the buses leverage features like a robust monocoque chassis, permanent magnet synchronous motor, CCS2 fast charging, regenerative braking, and a battery-backed range of up to 180 km.

Passenger safety and operational reliability are ensured through ventilated disc brakes, advanced Electronic Braking Systems (EBS), liquid-cooled battery systems, and additional safety protocols, including ADAS features and emergency stop systems.

Statement from EKA Mobility

Expressing pride over the collaboration, Rohit Srivastava, Business Head & Chief Growth Officer of EKA Mobility, remarked:

“We are proud to partner with AIIMS and Power Grid Corporation of India to deliver these advanced buses that combine comfort, safety, and accessibility. This initiative reflects our shared commitment to sustainable and inclusive mobility for all.”

Key features of the EKA 9M buses deployed at AIIMS include

Dimensions: The buses are 9,200 mm long and 2,500 mm wide, with a wheelbase of 4,800 mm.

Capacity: The vehicle has a maximum seating capacity of 35 plus a driver, with the option for a handicap-friendly configuration.

Sustainability and Efficiency: It offers zero tailpipe emissions, contributing to cleaner air, along with a regenerative braking system that enhances its efficiency.

Technology and Performance: The buses use a powerful Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor and can be fully recharged in 60 to 90 minutes using a fast-charging CCS2 system. They can achieve a range of up to 180 km on a single charge.

Passenger Comfort: The vehicles are equipped with a factory-fitted air conditioning system, ergonomic seating in a 2×2 configuration, and a bacterial filtration system.

Safety Features: Integrated safety systems include ventilated disc brakes with an advanced braking system (EBS) and multiple levels of electric protection.

Driver-centric design: The cockpit features a 7-inch infotainment system and tilt and telescopic power steering for enhanced driver comfort and safety.

Conclusion

In delivering these three advanced, accessible electric buses, EKA Mobility has not only supported AIIMS’s mission (EKA Mobility Supplies 9-Meter EV Buses to AIIMS New Delhi) of providing safe, parking-connected mobility but also set an inspiring precedent for green infrastructure within institutional campuses. The deployment brings together corporate funding, public procurement transparency, and cutting-edge EV technology—culminating in transportation that is comfortable, inclusive, and environmentally responsible.
