Kia India has expanded its buyback program, offering buyers more clarity about their vehicles’ future resale value. Announced on October 9, 2026, the initiative covers eligible petrol, diesel, CNG, hybrid, and electric models across its lineup. As Kia expands its buyback scheme, customers can secure an agreed future value at purchase, subject to programme conditions.
Eligible EVs qualify for up to 70% residual value after three years, while ICE models receive up to 75%. The move could help buyers concerned about depreciation plan their ownership costs and future upgrades, with benefits determined by their selected model, tenure, mileage allowance and agreement.
The Kia India Assured Buyback Programme covers eligible Sonet, Seltos, Carens, Carens Clavis and Sorento variants. Three-year residual values reach 75% for ICE models and 70% for EVs. Carnival, EV6, and EV9 are excluded, and payouts depend on agreed terms.

Up to 70% Back: What EV Buyers Get
The expanded offer follows the programme introduced with the Syros EV. Its introductory benefit offers up to 80% assured value after three years for eligible purchases through October 1, 2026. The standard EV framework now provides up to 70%.
These percentages are maximum assured residual values, rather than an unconditional promise for every vehicle or ownership pattern. The applicable amount depends on the chosen model, tenure, mileage allowance, and programme agreement.
Which Kia Models Make the Cut?
Coverage primarily extends to Kia’s locally produced passenger vehicles, across powertrains available for each model.
- Included: Sonet, Syros, Seltos, Carens, Carens Clavis and Sorento.
- Applicable powertrains: Petrol, diesel, CNG, hybrid and electric, depending on the model.
- Excluded: Carnival, EV6, and EV9.
Buyers should distinguish model eligibility from variant availability: the announcement does not mean every listed vehicle offers every powertrain. The exclusion also should not be attributed solely to imports, because the locally assembled Carnival remains outside the programme.
Choose Your Years and Kilometers
The Kia India Assured Buyback Programme offers ownership periods matched to different driving requirements.
- ICE tenure: Three, four or five years.
- EV tenure: Three or four years.
- Annual mileage: 10,000 km, 15,000 km or 20,000 km.
- Maximum cumulative allowance: Up to 100,000 km, depending on the selected plan.
A longer tenure does not automatically carry the same residual percentage advertised for three years. Customers need the specific value attached to their chosen agreement before comparing options.
How to Enrol and Claim
Eligible customers can enroll through authorized Kia dealerships when purchasing their vehicles. Once the selected tenure ends, they can claim the agreed buyback value under the program’s terms and conditions.
Customers should ask dealers to explain the valuation basis and any charges before deciding whether the plan suits their needs.
Why This Matters for Ownership
The Kia India Assured Buyback Programme aims to make future exchanges and upgrades more predictable. For EV buyers, an agreed resale value can reduce uncertainty when assessing ownership costs. The practical benefit remains tied to eligibility and compliance with the signed agreement.
