Mahindra launches a BaaS programme across its complete Electric Origin SUV portfolio, extending the financing option to the BE 6 SPORTEQ, XEV 9S, and XEV 9e. The initiative aims to make electric SUVs more accessible by substantially reducing their upfront purchase prices.

What Is Mahindra’s BaaS Programme?

Initially introduced with the BE 6 SPORTEQ, Battery-as-a-Service uses a dual-financing structure. Customers purchase the vehicle and finance its battery separately through Mahindra’s financing partners.

Mahindra launches a BaaS programme as a financing solution, not a conventional pay-per-use battery rental plan. The company effectively removes ₹8 lakh from the upfront price of each eligible electric SUV, bringing them closer to mid-range petrol, diesel, and CNG vehicles. Know about BAAS in Electric Vehicles

Revised Upfront Prices

Under the expanded programme, the BE 6 SPORTEQ starts at ₹11.45 lakh. The XEV 9S carries an upfront starting price of ₹12.65 lakh, while the XEV 9e is available from ₹13.90 lakh.

These advertised figures represent the vehicle cost after separating battery financing. Mahindra launches a BaaS programme with an effective battery usage cost starting at ₹3.75 per kilometer.

How Battery Financing Works

The advertised usage rate translates into a starting battery EMI of ₹6,975 per month. This calculation assumes average daily driving of 60 kilometers and requires a specified down payment.

Because the battery repayment is structured as a fixed EMI, customers do not pay solely according to their actual monthly kilometers. The ₹3.75-per-kilometer figure is an effective calculation used to explain the financing cost.

Important Costs to Consider

The advertised entry prices exclude insurance, road tax, registration, home-charging installation, and maintenance expenses. Final ownership costs will therefore vary by location, chosen variant, loan terms, and accessories.

By lowering the initial financial barrier, Mahindra launches a BaaS programme to give buyers greater control over upfront spending and monthly payments while strengthening the appeal of its Electric Origin SUVs in India’s increasingly competitive EV market.
