Exicom Tele-Systems has begun manufacturing indigenously developed liquid-cooled AC and DC power modules for electric-vehicle chargers at its Hyderabad Smart Manufacturing Facility. The development makes Exicom the first Indian company to manufacture this class of advanced liquid-cooled power electronics, with initial production aimed at global EV charging markets. Exicom Launches Liquid-Cooled EV Charging Power Modules in India, strengthening its position in high-power charging technology and expanding India’s role in manufacturing sophisticated EV charging components.

Why Liquid Cooling Matters for EV Fast Charging

Thermal management is increasingly important as EV chargers move towards higher power outputs. Thermal stress reportedly contributes to nearly 60% of power electronics failures, while a 10°C–15°C increase in internal temperature can significantly increase component failure rates.

Exicom says its liquid-cooled modules operate approximately 10°C cooler than conventional air-cooled systems. Their fully sealed architecture also protects critical electronics against dust, moisture, and salt air, improving suitability for demanding outdoor charging environments.

The modules use silicon carbide-based power electronics and deliver energy conversion efficiency of up to 99%. Exicom is offering a 10-year warranty and expects the technology to reduce the total cost of ownership by around 25–30% over its operating life.

Tritium Acquisition Powers Technology Development

Exicom Launches Liquid-Cooled EV Charging Power Modules in India after leveraging expertise gained through its 2024 acquisition of Australian DC fast-charging specialist Tritium.

Exicom invested nearly $3.5 million and around two years in R&D, involving teams across India, the US, and Brisbane. The technology has now been adapted for large-scale manufacturing at Exicom’s ₹216 crore Hyderabad facility.

The plant uses automation, digital traceability, and specialized testing to manufacture advanced charging components at globally competitive costs.

North America and Europe First

Initial production will primarily serve North America and Europe. The modules will power rectifiers used in Tritium’s TRI-FLEX and DC-FLEX ultra-fast charging platforms and are also being piloted for solar inverter applications.

In subsequent phases, the technology is expected to enter India and Southeast Asia through Exicom’s Harmony DC chargers, serving charge point operators, fleet operators, and automotive OEMs.

Exicom Launches Liquid-Cooled EV Charging Power Modules in India at a time when demand for reliable, high-density fast-charging infrastructure is accelerating globally.

Strengthening India’s EV Charging Manufacturing Base

Exicom operates across EV charging and critical power markets in India, Southeast Asia, the Middle East, the US, and Europe and says it has sold more than 200,000 EV chargers globally.

CEO and Managing Director Anant Nahata said liquid cooling has become the preferred architecture for high-power charging globally. Local manufacturing gives Exicom greater control over the technology, allowing it to engineer, improve, and adapt products faster.

With Exicom launching liquid-cooled EV Charging Power Modules in India, becoming a significant manufacturing milestone, the company is positioning India as a production and export base for next-generation EV fast-charging technology.
