RoadGrid secures Rs. 13 Cr in financial assistance from the Technology Development Board (TDB), operating under the Department of Science and Technology (DST), Government of India, to establish a large-scale manufacturing and assembly facility for its patented Universal EV Charger. The funding will support a Rs. 27.5 crore project aimed at strengthening India’s domestic EV charging ecosystem while boosting indigenous manufacturing under the Aatmanirbhar Bharat initiative.

The upcoming facility will be located in Indore, Madhya Pradesh, with commercial production expected to begin by March 2027. Once operational, the plant will have the capacity to manufacture 2,000 Universal EV Chargers annually, helping meet the growing demand for reliable charging infrastructure across the country.

Universal EV Charger Designed for Multiple EV Segments

One of the biggest highlights of the project is RoadGrid’s patented Universal EV Charger, which supports electric two-wheelers, three-wheelers, passenger cars, and commercial electric vehicles through a single charging platform. The system integrates a 140 kW dual DC gun with CCS2 and Type 6 connectors, along with AC charging capabilities, making it compatible with multiple EV categories.

The manufacturing facility will locally produce key components such as power electronics, thermal management systems, communication modules, embedded software, control hardware, and metering systems. This localization strategy is expected to reduce dependence on imports while supporting India’s domestic EV supply chain.

RoadGrid’s Growth Plans and Business Expansion

Founded in 2020, RoadGrid develops EV charging hardware, intelligent software platforms, and energy management solutions. RoadGrid secured Rs. 13 Cr at a time when the company is rapidly expanding its footprint across India’s EV charging sector.

The startup currently employs more than 40 professionals, has deployed over 100 EV chargers, manages more than 200 charging points, and serves six enterprise customers. It has also established partnerships with major industry players, including VinFast, HPCL, and IOCL, strengthening its presence in the fast-growing electric mobility market.

Earlier this year, the company also raised Rs. 12 crore in a pre-Series A funding round led by Venture Catalysts to accelerate product development, expand manufacturing capabilities, and deploy additional charging infrastructure.

Project Expected to Create Jobs and Boost Local Manufacturing

The new manufacturing facility is projected to create over 100 employment opportunities while supporting India’s expanding EV ecosystem. According to company estimates, the plant could generate around Rs. 100 crore in annual revenue even at an initial production level of 1,000 chargers.

With RoadGrid securing Rs. 13 Cr from the Technology Development Board, the company is positioning itself to play a significant role in India’s transition toward cleaner mobility. As EV adoption continues to rise, RoadGrid securing Rs. 13 Cr marks another important milestone in strengthening the country’s domestic EV charging infrastructure and manufacturing capabilities.
