VECV Partners with Jio-bp Pulse to Expand EV Charging: VE Commercial Vehicles Limited (VECV), a flagship JV between the Volvo Group and Eicher Motors, has taken a significant leap toward sustainable logistics. On September 4, 2025, VECV entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Jio-bp Pulse, aiming to bolster the charging ecosystem for electric trucks and buses across India.

Jio-bp, a fuel retail joint venture of Reliance Industries and bp, operates one of India’s fastest-growing EV charging networks under its Jio-bp Pulse brand. Through the MoU, Jio-bp will offer customised charging solutions, while VECV will contribute its expertise in electric truck and bus technologies, ensuring solutions meet diverse fleet requirements.

Gigantic Charging Network for Commercial EVs

This collaboration will connect all Eicher trucks and buses EV customers to Jio-bp’s vast charging infrastructure—boasting over 6,000 DC fast-charging points, the largest such footprint in India. These stations span urban centers, highway corridors, and specialized EV hubs, purpose-built to support heavy-duty commercial vehicles.

Seamless Integration via the ‘My Eicher’ App

A ground-breaking feature of the MoU is the integration of Jio-bp’s charging network into VECV’s My Eicher fleet management app—the first time a public charging network has been built directly into a commercial vehicle OEM’s platform. Fleet managers can now view real-time charger availability and locations, which greatly simplifies route planning and enhances operational efficiency.

Combining Core Strengths for Better Solutions

  • Jio-bp Pulse brings its robust DC fast-charging infrastructure and expertise in customized solutions tailored to fleet-specific needs.
  • VECV, on the other hand, contributes its deep understanding of electric truck and bus technologies to ensure these charging systems align with commercial fleet demands.

Together, they’re set to actively promote EV adoption among Eicher Trucks and Buses customers, aiming for cleaner and more sustainable transport in India.

Strategic Quotes from Leadership

  • Vinod Aggarwal (MD & CEO, VECV) calls the MoU “a major milestone in our journey to electrify trucking in India,” highlighting how integrating charging access directly into My Eicher tackles a significant barrier to EV fleet adoption.
  • Sarthak Behuria (Chairman, Jio-bp) describes the collaboration as vital to India’s mobility transformation, particularly in electrifying the trucking sector and accelerating EV uptake by fleet operators.

Looking Ahead: Depot-Level Charging & Tailored Infrastructure

The MoU also paves the way for future cooperation on depot-level charging solutions and custom-built infrastructure projects for large EV fleets and bus operations. These developments may lead to more formal agreements down the road, shaped by customer requirements.

Why This Partnership Matters?

  1. Solving a Key EV Obstacle: Charging infrastructure remains one of the most critical hurdles in commercial EV adoption. This alliance directly addresses that gap.
  2. Digitally Empowered Fleets: Fleet operators gain a powerful tool—real-time visibility and data-driven insights via My Eicher—to enhance uptime and optimize utilization.
  3. Scalability & Confidence: With seamless access to over 6,000 chargers, fleet owners have the confidence to scale their EV operations, transitioning away from diesel.
  4. Strategic Infrastructure Expansion: Evaluating depot-level and custom infrastructure solutions signals a shift toward integrated, future-ready charging ecosystems.

In essence, the VECV–Jio-bp Pulse partnership (VECV Partners with Jio-bp Pulse) is a landmark step in India’s march toward zero-emission logistics. By blending vehicle manufacturing excellence with a powerful charging infrastructure, it sets a robust foundation for electrifying commercial transport—empowering fleet operators with accessibility, efficiency, and confidence to drive India’s clean mobility vision forward.
