In a major step toward strengthening its electric vehicle ecosystem, Toyota partners with Treehouse to provide streamlined home charging installation services across the United States. Announced by Toyota Motor North America, the collaboration supports owners of 2026 and newer Toyota and Lexus battery electric vehicles (BEVs) and plug-in hybrid electric vehicles (PHEVs).
This move reflects Toyota’s continued expansion of EV infrastructure as it builds long-term confidence in electrified mobility solutions.
Simplifying Level 2 Home Charging
Under this initiative, Toyota partners with Treehouse to manage the entire Level 2 AC charger installation process. Treehouse handles project scoping, permitting, and installation — all coordinated in a single home visit.
A key highlight is Treehouse’s virtual scoping technology. Customers can submit photos and complete a short survey online, allowing the company to provide installation quotes within 48 hours. Licensed electricians then assess and complete the installation, ensuring safety and compliance with local regulations.
Treehouse also offers a two-year installation warranty, giving customers added peace of mind.
Dual-Voltage Charger Comes Standard
All 2026 and newer Toyota and Lexus BEVs and PHEVs come standard with a dual-voltage 120V/240V AC home charging cable delivering up to 7.7 kW of output. Under ideal conditions, this setup can charge a vehicle from approximately 10% to full capacity overnight.
Toyota began including dual-voltage charging cables with BEVs starting in the 2024 model year and expanded availability to plug-in hybrids from 2026 onward. The charging cable is backed by a three-year warranty for Toyota vehicles and a four-year warranty for Lexus models.
Optional ChargePoint Home Flex for Faster Charging
Customers seeking faster charging can purchase the hardwired ChargePoint Home Flex Level 2 charger through Treehouse. Depending on the vehicle and home electrical setup, this unit can reduce charging time by up to 30%.
The charger supports both SAE J3400 NACS plugs for 2026 and newer BEVs and SAE J1772 connectors for 2023–2025 BEVs and plug-in hybrids. In addition to Treehouse’s installation warranty, the hardware includes a three-year manufacturer’s warranty.
Broader Strategic Momentum
As Toyota partners with Treehouse, the automaker continues advancing its broader electrification strategy. The company plans to increase hybrid vehicle production by 30% by 2028, targeting 6.7 million units. Meanwhile, its luxury division, Lexus, is projected to achieve record U.S. sales in 2025, exceeding 360,000 vehicles.
Recent developments also include a recall of approximately 162,000 Toyota Tundra models in the U.S. due to multimedia display issues, and a revised tender offer to acquire Toyota Industries at 18,800 yen per share, a move opposed by Elliott Investment Management.
