The upcoming Range Rover Velar EV is shaping up to be one of the most significant launches from Jaguar Land Rover as the brand accelerates its transition into an all-electric era. Expected to debut globally in late 2026, this model will mark the second fully electric Range Rover after the flagship electric SUV arrives earlier in the same year.
Originally introduced in 2017 as a combustion-only model, the Velar has always occupied a sweet spot in the lineup — positioned between the Evoque and Range Rover Sport. The electric version is expected to retain this placement, ensuring continuity while embracing future-ready technology.
Positioned for the Modern Luxury Buyer
The Range Rover Velar EV will continue to sit below the flagship Range Rover EV in the brand’s hierarchy. Much like its ICE counterpart, it will serve as a stylish and more road-focused luxury SUV.

Following its debut, an all-electric Evoque is expected around 2027, forming a broader electric SUV family that aligns with JLR’s long-term electrification strategy.
Coupe-Inspired Design with Aerodynamic Focus
Spy shots of camouflaged test models suggest a bold visual evolution. The Range Rover Velar EV appears to move away from the traditional upright SUV stance in favour of a sleek fastback silhouette.

A major technological leap comes in the form of JLR’s new Electrified Modular Architecture (EMA). The Range Rover Velar EV is likely to be the first vehicle built on this advanced 800V platform.
Interestingly, this architecture will also underpin future electric models from Tata Motors, including its Avinya lineup.

Battery packs are likely to range between 80 kWh and 100 kWh, offering a projected driving range of up to 720 km depending on the variant.

Thanks to its 800V system, the Velar EV may support DC fast charging up to 350 kW — enabling a 10% to 80% charge in roughly 20 minutes.
Production is expected to begin in early 2027 at JLR’s facility in Halewood.
