Auto owners willing to adopt EVs will be supported with financial incentives and exchange schemes, encouraging widespread participation.

This aligns closely with the Meghalaya Electric Vehicle Policy 2021, which targets the adoption of 20,000 electric vehicles by 2025. Beyond cleaner transportation, the EV auto move is part of a broader plan to develop Tura and other key towns into more organized and environmentally friendly urban centres. The beautification programme, under which Sangma made the announcement, also included financial support for local cleanliness and community upkeep. A total of 60 localities received cheques to promote cleanliness and civic responsibility, with the top three performing areas awarded ₹1 lakh each and the remaining participants receiving ₹70,000.
Further, Sangma highlighted the need for well-maintained parks, open spaces, recreational areas for children, and activity zones for the elderly. He urged communities owning land to collaborate with the government to develop such public spaces, which would later be maintained at the local level to ensure sustainability and community ownership.

Meghalaya has already been working closely with other Northeastern states and investing in sports and infrastructure development to ensure successful hosting.
