In a significant step toward sustainable urban transport, MCG earmarks 20 spots for EV charging stations in Gurgaon under the city’s 2026 clean air action plan. The initiative aims to reduce air pollution by 10% by strengthening green mobility infrastructure and making electric vehicle (EV) adoption more convenient for residents.

Why This Initiative Matters?

Gurgaon, officially known as Gurugram, has been grappling with rising air pollution levels due to rapid urbanization and increasing vehicular traffic. To tackle this, the Municipal Corporation of Gurugram (MCG) has conducted a city-wide survey to identify high-footfall areas where charging infrastructure would be most accessible and widely used.

By strategically placing charging stations near markets, parks, community centres, and major intersections, MCG earmarks 20 spots for EV charging stations in Gurgaon to ensure maximum visibility, accessibility, and utilization.

  • Phase 1 (Q2 2026): Installation of the first 10 charging points between April and June.
  • Phase 2 (Q3 2026): Installation of the remaining 10 charging points between July and September.

Additionally, the plan includes setting up 10 battery swapping stations by the end of 2026 to further enhance EV ecosystem support.

Existing Charging Infrastructure

While new stations are under development, several public and private EV charging points are already operational in key sectors. These include facilities in Sector 29, Sector 15, Sector 31, and Sector 16, offering residents immediate access to charging services.

A Step Toward a Greener Gurgaon

With this strategic move, MCG earmarks 20 spots for EV charging stations in Gurgaon to accelerate electric vehicle adoption and reduce dependency on fossil fuels. As the city strengthens its charging network, residents can expect improved convenience, cleaner air, and a more sustainable urban future.

The initiative clearly signals that MCG earmarks 20 spots for EV charging stations in Gurgaon, not just as an infrastructure upgrade, but as a long-term commitment to environmental responsibility and smart city development.
