A Mahindra BE 6 electric SUV was engulfed in flames while travelling on the Bulandshahr–Hapur highway in Uttar Pradesh on January 25, 2026. The incident occurred near the Kurana Toll Plaza when smoke began emerging from the vehicle, which soon escalated into a massive fire. Fortunately, the driver escaped unharmed, and no injuries were reported. This marks one of the first publicly reported cases where a Mahindra BE 6 EV catches fire, drawing nationwide attention.
The vehicle, bearing registration number UP 13U 7555, was owned by Aman Kharbanda, who was driving from Bulandshahr toward Hapur at the time of the incident. The fire completely damaged the car before emergency services could bring it under control.

Following the viral spread of videos on social media, Mahindra & Mahindra released an official statement addressing the incident. The automaker confirmed that preliminary analysis of vehicle sensor data and software diagnostics showed no battery-related failure.
According to the company, the battery management system (BMS) and thermal sensors recorded no abnormalities before or during the incident. A physical inspection at the site further supported the conclusion that the battery pack was not the source of ignition.
