Strategic Acquisition Reshapes the E-Bike Market

In a major development in the electric mobility industry, Life EV acquires e-bike brand Rad Power Bikes in a deal valued at $14.9 million. The acquisition was finalized in early March 2026 after a competitive court-supervised bankruptcy auction in which five companies participated.

Life Electric Vehicles Holdings successfully outbid competitors and secured ownership of the assets of Rad Power Bikes, one of the most recognized e-bike brands in the United States. The agreement includes Rad’s brand rights, inventory, and key operating assets, allowing Life EV to revive and expand the company’s presence in the growing electric mobility sector.

Financial Details Behind the Deal

The total value of the transaction reached $14.9 million, consisting of approximately $13.3 million in cash along with assumed liabilities. This acquisition follows Rad Power Bikes’ Chapter 11 bankruptcy filing in late 2025, which was triggered by declining demand and safety concerns linked to some older battery models.

Despite these challenges, the deal demonstrates how Life EV acquires e-bike brand assets with the intention of rebuilding and strengthening the brand rather than dismantling it.

Plans to Expand and Strengthen the Brand

Life EV plans to retain the Rad Power Bikes brand identity and continue operating its existing U.S. retail stores. The company also aims to expand the brand into new domestic and international markets.

This strategy aligns with Life EV’s broader goal of building a portfolio of electric mobility brands, following its earlier acquisition of the electric motorcycle brand Serial 1. Through these strategic moves, the company is positioning itself as a major player in the electric transportation ecosystem.

Moving Production to the United States

A key part of the transition plan is relocating Rad’s production to U.S.-affiliated manufacturing operations using a Foreign Trade Zone structure. This approach will help improve supply chain transparency, product quality, and faster innovation cycles.

The move highlights that Life EV acquires e-bike brand Rad not only to prevent its collapse but also to transform it into a stronger, locally supported manufacturing operation.

Supporting Customers During the Transition

To ensure customer trust, Life EV confirmed it will honor certain warranties and gift cards previously issued by Rad Power Bikes. This commitment signals that Life EV is acquiring the e-bike brand Rad, with a long-term vision to rebuild confidence among existing customers and expand the electric bicycle market in the years ahead.
