In a breathtaking display of precision and power, the GAC Hytec SSR sets a 213.5 km/h World Record for the fastest electric car drift, redefining what high-performance EVs can achieve. The record-breaking run was officially recognized by Guinness World Records, with the dramatic video quickly going viral across social media platforms.

A Historic Run in Beijing

The historic attempt took place on October 29, 2025, at the Highway Traffic Test Ground in Beijing, China. Professional driver Jason Ye, also known as Ye Zhicheng, was behind the wheel during the record-setting performance.

During the run, Ye pushed the electric supercar to an astonishing drifting speed of 213.523 km/h (132.68 mph). To meet official requirements, the vehicle had to maintain a drift angle of at least 30 degrees for a minimum of 50 meters. Ye not only achieved this but also maintained sharp control and stability throughout the high-speed slide. This remarkable feat confirms once again that the GAC Hytec SSR sets a 213.5 km/h World Record under strictly monitored and verified conditions.

Officials from Guangzhou Automobile Group Aion confirmed that all guidelines were followed, with independent measurers present to validate the achievement.

Breaking the Previous Record

This new milestone surpasses the previous electric vehicle drift record of 207.996 km/h, which was set in 2022 by Zhao Junfeng in a Zeekr EV. By crossing the 213 km/h mark, the GAC Hytec SSR sets a 213.5 km/h World Record and establishes a new benchmark for electric performance vehicles worldwide.

However, the overall fastest vehicle drift record—regardless of powertrain—still belongs to Masato Kawabata, who achieved 304.96 km/h in a modified Nissan GT-R Nismo in 2016.

Powerhouse Performance Specifications

The record-breaking GAC Hyptec SSR (formerly known as Hyper SSR) is a tri-motor, all-wheel-drive electric supercar engineered for extreme performance.

Key Specifications:

  • Power Output: Over 900 kW (approximately 1,224 horsepower)
  • Acceleration: 0–100 km/h in just 1.9 seconds
  • Top Speed: Electronically limited to 251 km/h
  • Architecture: 100% carbon fibre body
  • Technology: Advanced torque vectoring for enhanced drift control

With one motor at the front and two at the rear, the SSR delivers exceptional torque distribution, allowing it to maintain grip and stability even at extreme drift angles.

A New Era for Electric Supercars

This achievement proves that electric vehicles are no longer just about efficiency—they are now serious contenders in the world of extreme motorsport performance. As the GAC Hytec SSR sets a 213.5 km/h World Record, it signals a bold new chapter for EV engineering and competitive drifting.

The fusion of advanced electric technology, carbon-fibre construction, and professional driving expertise has created a landmark moment in automotive history—one that will inspire future innovations in the high-performance EV segment.
