India’s electric mobility sector is evolving rapidly, and a major step forward has come as EV firm Ultraviolette launches battery innovation designed to make electric motorcycles more affordable and accessible. The company recently introduced Battery Flex, a Battery-as-a-Service (BaaS) model, in Bengaluru to accelerate the adoption of sustainable transportation.
A New Ownership Model for Electric Motorcycles
With the introduction of Battery Flex, EV firm Ultraviolette launches battery subscription plans that separate the cost of the battery from the motorcycle chassis. This new approach significantly lowers the upfront price of its electric motorcycles while offering flexible payment options.
Under the program, customers can purchase the X-47 Crossover at a starting price of ₹1.49 lakh, while the battery can be subscribed to for ₹2,499 per month. Previously priced around ₹2.5 lakh, this model reduces the initial cost by nearly 40%. Similarly, the F77 electric motorcycle now starts at ₹1.99 lakh under the new structure.

Making EV Ownership More Affordable
The initiative demonstrates how EV firm Ultraviolette launches battery solutions to tackle one of the biggest barriers in electric vehicle adoption—the high cost of battery technology.
According to CEO and Co-founder Narayan Subramaniam, the new pricing structure allows riders to access advanced performance and technology at a price comparable to conventional motorcycles. With operating costs starting at about ₹2,499 per month, the cost of running the vehicle can be even lower than average petrol expenses, redefining affordability in the motorcycle segment.
Subscription Benefits and Ownership
The Battery Flex program offers several long-term advantages. Customers receive a 5-year battery warranty as part of the subscription plan. After completing five years of subscription payments, the battery ownership is transferred to the rider without any additional cost.
Through this strategy, EV firm Ultraviolette launches battery services that combine affordability with long-term ownership benefits, making electric mobility more appealing to a wider audience.
Sustainability and Lifecycle Innovation
Beyond affordability, the company has also focused on sustainability. The batteries feature a modular and serviceable architecture, allowing them to be repurposed for clean energy storage or recycled after their vehicular lifecycle ends.
With this strategic move, Ultraviolette is positioning itself strongly in India’s EV market by reducing upfront costs while maintaining high-performance engineering standards. The Battery Flex program could play a significant role in accelerating the transition toward cleaner and more sustainable mobility solutions.
