India’s transition toward sustainable transportation received a major boost on January 29, 2026, when EKA Mobility & HPCL sign MoU to accelerate the development of electric mobility and green energy infrastructure across the country. This strategic collaboration aligns with India’s broader push for low-carbon transportation, particularly in the commercial vehicle segment.

A Strategic Collaboration for Clean Transportation

The partnership brings together EKA Mobility, a leading manufacturer of electric commercial vehicles, and Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited (HPCL), one of India’s largest energy companies with an extensive nationwide retail network. Through this MoU, both companies aim to jointly develop and scale sustainable mobility solutions by combining vehicle innovation with robust energy infrastructure.

At its core, the agreement focuses on building an ecosystem that supports electric commercial vehicles and alternative clean fuels.

Expanding EV Charging and Battery Swapping Infrastructure

One of the primary objectives of the collaboration is the rapid expansion of charging infrastructure for commercial electric vehicles. HPCL’s network of over 24,400 retail outlets will be leveraged to deploy charging stations at strategic locations, ensuring better accessibility for fleet operators.

In addition, the partnership includes the deployment of battery swapping facilities wherever required. This move is expected to significantly reduce vehicle downtime and improve operational efficiency for commercial transport and logistics companies. This is a major reason why EKA Mobility & HPCL sign MoU is being seen as a game-changer for the EV ecosystem.

Building on HPCL’s Existing Green Energy Foundation

The collaboration will build upon HPCL’s existing green energy footprint, which already includes more than 5,300 EV charging stations operating under the HP e-Charge brand and over 150 battery swapping stations across India. This established infrastructure provides a strong foundation for scaling EV solutions tailored to commercial applications.

Exploring Green Hydrogen and Sustainable Logistics

Beyond electrification, the MoU also opens doors to exploring green hydrogen as a long-term clean mobility solution. The companies will assess hydrogen-based technologies and sustainable logistics solutions to further decarbonize India’s transportation sector.

This broader vision highlights why EKA Mobility & HPCL sign MoU at a time when policy support and industry momentum for alternative fuels are gaining strength.

Advancing an Integrated EV Ecosystem

For EKA Mobility, the partnership supports its vision of creating an integrated EV ecosystem, encompassing advanced vehicle technology, charging solutions, and after-sales services. At the same time, HPCL strengthens its role in India’s evolving clean energy landscape.

Overall, EKA Mobility & HPCL sign MoU marks a significant step toward building scalable, future-ready solutions for sustainable commercial transportation in India.
