A New Contender in the Mid-Size Electric SUV Segment
BYD opens pre-sales for Song Ultra EV, introducing a new mid-size electric SUV designed to strengthen its position in the highly competitive EV market. As the first B-segment pure-electric SUV in BYD’s Dynasty lineup, the Song Ultra EV combines long driving range, advanced battery technology, and ultra-fast charging capabilities.
The new model officially entered the pre-sale phase in China on March 5, 2026, with the company planning a full market launch by the end of March. Customers who place orders during the pre-sales period will also receive 18 months of free flash-charging benefits, making the early purchase even more attractive.

Pricing and Variants
As BYD opens pre-sales for Song Ultra EV, the company has introduced four different variants to suit different customer needs. The pre-sale pricing structure is as follows:
- 620 km Leading Version – 155,000 yuan (~$22,470)
- 620 km Superior Version – 165,000 yuan (~$23,920)
- 710 km Superior Version – 175,000 yuan (~$25,370)
- 710 km Excellence Version – 185,000 yuan (~$26,820)
These competitive prices position the SUV strongly against other mid-size electric vehicles in the market.
Battery Technology and Ultra-Fast Charging
One of the biggest highlights as BYD opens pre-sales for Song Ultra EV is the introduction of the second-generation Blade Battery combined with an advanced 800V high-voltage platform.
The vehicle offers two battery options:
- 75.6 kWh battery with a 620 km CLTC range
- 82.7 kWh battery with a 710 km CLTC range
Thanks to BYD’s Flash Charging technology, the SUV can charge from 10% to 70% in around five minutes, providing roughly 350 km of range in just 10 minutes. Under normal conditions, the battery can charge from 10% to 97% in about nine minutes. Even in extreme temperatures of –30°C, the charging time increases by only about three minutes.
Performance, Safety, and Smart Driving
The Song Ultra EV features a single rear-wheel-drive motor producing 270 kW (362 hp), enabling a top speed of 210 km/h. The vehicle measures 4,850 mm in length, 1,910 mm in width, and 1,670 mm in height, with a 2,840 mm wheelbase, offering a spacious and stable ride.
Advanced technology also plays a major role. Some variants support LiDAR sensors and BYD’s “God’s Eye B” intelligent driving system, powered by an end-to-end AI model with reinforcement learning for smoother navigation in complex urban environments.
Safety and comfort are enhanced with the DiSus-C intelligent damping body control system and a high-speed tire blowout stability system, capable of stabilizing the SUV even during a tire failure at speeds up to 140 km/h.
Interior Technology and Comfort
Inside the cabin, the SUV features a 15.6-inch central touchscreen, four-zone voice interaction, and premium seat functions including ventilation, heating, and massage. A unique “Double Bed Mode” allows the seats to fold into a 1.8 m × 1.4 m sleeping area, making it ideal for road trips.
A Major Step for BYD’s Electric SUV Strategy
With advanced charging technology, long driving range, competitive pricing, and intelligent driving features, BYD opens pre-sales for Song Ultra EV as a strong new competitor in the mid-size electric SUV segment. The model demonstrates BYD’s commitment to pushing EV technology forward while making high-performance electric vehicles more accessible to consumers.
