The future of two-wheelers is about to get electrifying as Bajaj Electric Motorcycles gear up to hit the roads! After dominating the EV scooter segment with the iconic Chetak, Bajaj Auto is now preparing to redefine performance and power in the electric motorcycle space. Whispers of an all-electric Pulsar have already ignited excitement among enthusiasts. Could this be the moment when Bajaj fuses its racing DNA with cutting-edge EV technology? As the brand teases a bold new era of innovation, one thing’s certain—the Pulsar EV might just change the way India rides forever.
A New Electric Platform for the Future
Bajaj is developing an all-new, in-house electric motorcycle platform as part of a vigorous R&D effort. This platform will underpin multiple models, ranging from practical commuter bikes (under the Boxer brand) to performance-oriented machines (under the Pulsar name). Unlike the Chetak platform, this one is being built from scratch, specifically designed to accommodate the demands of an electric powertrain and modern rider expectations.
This strategic approach combines Bajaj’s decades of expertise in both electric scooters and internal combustion engine (ICE) motorcycles. With established brands like Pulsar, Boxer, and CT commanding strong global recognition, Bajaj aims to create electric motorcycles that offer reliability, performance, and everyday usability in equal measure.
The Electric Pulsar – Performance DNA Reimagined
At the forefront of this new venture will be the Pulsar EV, expected to debut between mid and late 2026. Staying true to its legacy, the electric Pulsar will retain the brand’s muscular styling, sporty stance, and performance-driven DNA, setting it apart from the typical commuter-focused electric bikes currently in the market.
Although official specifications remain under wraps, industry reports suggest that the Pulsar EV may deliver 8–12 kW of power, achieve a top speed of 100–120 km/h, and offer a range of 120–150 km per charge. Charging is expected to take around 4–5 hours with a standard charger, while fast charging could reduce that time to just 1.5–2 hours.
Tech and Features
The upcoming Pulsar EV is also expected to embrace advanced technology. Highlights may include a digital TFT display with smartphone connectivity, navigation support, and rider-assist features such as ABS and traction control (on higher variants). Other convenience features could include keyless start and anti-theft alerts.
A Calculated Leap Forward
While the electric motorcycle market in India currently makes up only about 1% of total EV two-wheeler sales, Bajaj is betting on the future. With its robust R&D, iconic brand reputation, and forward-looking strategy, Bajaj aims to replicate the Chetak’s success and redefine electric motorcycling with the Pulsar EV—a perfect blend of power, technology, and trust.
