Chennai’s Raptee.HV E-Bike Boom Large-Scale Deliveries” is quickly becoming the most exciting headline in India’s fast-evolving EV landscape. The Chennai-based start-up is on the brink of transforming urban mobility as it prepares to launch India’s first high-voltage electric motorcycle on a massive scale. With media reviews pouring in and overwhelmingly praising its breakthrough performance and charging technology, Raptee.HV has sparked nationwide curiosity. An impressive 8,000 bookings—many from tier-2 and tier-3 cities—signal a strong shift in consumer expectations. As deliveries begin this month, all eyes are on Raptee to see how this bold innovation reshapes the electric two-wheeler market.
A New Benchmark in India’s EV Motorcycle Segment
Raptee’s flagship electric motorcycle, the T30, stands out as the first in India to adopt a 240V high-voltage drivetrain, far superior to the traditional 48V–72V systems used in most EV scooters. This advanced architecture provides sustained performance without overheating, even on hilly terrain, and positions the T30 on par with 250–300cc ICE motorcycles in terms of acceleration and top speed.
What truly sets Raptee apart is its compatibility with over 35,000 public CCS2 fast car chargers across the country. This makes the T30 the only motorcycle in India currently capable of using standard EV car charging infrastructure. Charging from 20% to 80% takes just around 30–36 minutes at a fast charger, while home charging completes in about one hour.
Delivery & Expansion Plans
Raptee will begin deliveries in Chennai and Bengaluru, followed by expansions to Hyderabad, Kochi, and Pune. The start-up plans to deliver 300 bikes per month by March, with a targeted output of around 2,000 units for the year. Founder and CEO Dinesh Arjun, a former Tesla production manager, emphasized that the company will scale gradually to ensure service centers are in place before entering new cities.
Growing Manufacturing Capacity
Currently operating from a 4-acre facility in Chennai, Raptee is preparing for a significant production boost. Supported by the Tamil Nadu government’s EV policy, the company will build a new 40-acre manufacturing plant in Cheyyar, scaling capacity from 1,500 to 9,000 units per month and eventually up to 70,000 units annually. The upcoming facility represents an investment of about ₹360 crore.
Strong Investor Confidence
Raptee has raised ₹40 crore in equity and ₹10 crore in debt, with a new $20 million (₹165 crore) funding round in progress. Notably, it became the first EV motorcycle OEM to receive support from the Technology Development Board (TDB) under the Department of Science & Technology. Investors like Bluehill Capital, prominent HNIs, and even the Automotive Research Association of India (ARAI) have backed its high-voltage tech innovation.
With strong reviews, solid technology, and aggressive expansion plans, Raptee.HV is well on its way to reshaping India’s electric motorcycle segment.
