Overview

Tata Motors has refreshed its popular electric SUV, the Tata Punch EV, with meaningful updates that enhance both style and functionality. The latest changes include two new colour options, faster charging speeds, and the discontinuation of the ACFC (Active Climate and Future Connectivity) variants. Alongside this, Tata is also preparing for a Punch facelift to keep the model competitive in India’s fast-growing EV segment.

In this blog, we take a closer look at all the updates, design changes, and performance details you need to know.

Tata Punch Facelift Spied on Test

The Tata Punch has been one of the brand’s best-selling models since its launch in October 2021. After three successful years, it is now due for a midlife facelift. Recently, a camouflaged test mule was spotted in Pune, confirming that the updated Punch will soon hit the roads.

Key Highlights of the Facelift:

  • Exterior changes: Redesigned bumpers, updated alloy wheels, connected LED DRLs, and a split headlamp setup in line with Tata’s new design language.
  • Interior upgrades: A new two-spoke steering wheel with an illuminated Tata logo, while retaining features like an electric sunroof, voice assistance, rear AC vents, and fast USB chargers.
  • Safety improvements: The facelift is expected to offer six airbags as standard, along with additional safety tech.
  • Engines: The same 1.2L petrol and CNG powertrains will continue, paired with manual and AMT gearboxes.

Discontinued Punch EV ACFC Variants

A notable change in the Punch EV lineup is the removal of ACFC variants. These versions, which included advanced climate control and futuristic connectivity features, have been phased out by Tata Motors.

Why Were They Discontinued?

Several reasons may have led to this decision:

  • Market demand: ACFC trims may not have achieved strong sales.
  • Technology updates: Newer EV innovations made these variants less relevant.
  • Cost-effectiveness: Higher production costs without matching demand.
  • Customer feedback: Buyers may have preferred simpler, more affordable options.

While this may seem like a setback, Tata is focusing on refining core models with better range, faster charging, and improved safety features to keep the Punch EV relevant.

Tata Punch EV Charging & Colour Updates

Tata has introduced two new exterior coloursSupernova Copper and Pure Grey – bringing the total colour options to seven dual-tone shades, all paired with a black roof. This gives buyers more choices to personalise their EV.

Available Colours:

  • Supernova Copper (new)
  • Pure Grey (new)
  • Empowered Oxide
  • Seaweed
  • Fearless Red
  • Daytona Grey
  • Pristine White

Along with cosmetic upgrades, Tata has significantly improved charging performance, especially for the Long Range (LR) versions.

  • DC fast charging (50kW or above):
    • 10% to 80% in 40 minutes (previously 56 minutes).
    • 90 km range in just 15 minutes of charging.

This update makes the Punch EV even more practical for city users who rely on quick top-ups.

Tata Punch EV Battery & Performance Options

The Punch EV continues to be offered with two battery pack choices, catering to different driving needs.
