In a major step toward strengthening electric mobility in Uttar Pradesh, Tata Power EV Charging signs an MoU with Gorakhpur Nagar Nigam to upgrade EV charging infrastructure in Gorakhpur. The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), signed on February 20, 2026, marks another milestone in the state’s transition toward sustainable transportation.

Tata Power EV Charging Solutions Limited (TPEVCSL), a subsidiary of Tata Power Renewable Energy Limited, will lead the deployment of ultra-fast EV charging stations at key strategic locations across the city. The collaboration aims to significantly enhance public charging accessibility and convenience for EV users.

Ultra-Fast Charging at Strategic Locations

Under the agreement, ultra-fast charging setups will be installed in high-footfall and transit-centric areas throughout Gorakhpur. These locations are carefully selected to ensure maximum accessibility for daily commuters, fleet operators, and commercial users.

By placing chargers in busy and easily accessible zones, the initiative directly addresses range anxiety — one of the primary concerns among EV owners. With Tata Power EV Charging signs MoU, the project is expected to accelerate EV adoption in Gorakhpur and nearby regions.

Supporting Uttar Pradesh’s Green Mobility Vision

This initiative aligns with Uttar Pradesh’s ambitious EV infrastructure roadmap. The state has outlined clear density targets to ensure seamless charging access:

  • One public charging station every 3 kilometres within cities
  • One charging station every 25 kilometres along highways
  • One station every 100 kilometres for heavy-duty vehicles

By expanding infrastructure in Gorakhpur, Tata Power EV Charging Solutions signs an MoU reinforces the state’s commitment to cleaner mobility and reduced carbon emissions.

Part of a Larger Statewide Expansion

The Gorakhpur agreement follows a similar collaboration with the Kanpur Municipal Corporation earlier in February 2026, where 12 charging stations were planned. These back-to-back partnerships highlight Tata Power’s aggressive push to scale EV infrastructure across Uttar Pradesh.

Tata Power’s Expanding EZ Charge Network

Tata Power operates its EV charging network under the EZ Charge brand, commanding nearly 60% market share in India’s EV charging ecosystem. Its nationwide footprint includes:

  • Over 2 lakh home chargers
  • 5,500+ public, semi-public, and fleet charging points
  • 1,200+ e-bus charging stations
  • Presence across 630+ cities and towns
  • More than 5 lakh registered users

These chargers are strategically deployed at highways, hotels, malls, hospitals, offices, residential complexes, bus depots, and commercial hubs — playing a key role in India’s growing EV revolution.

With Tata Power EV Charging Solutions signs MoU, Gorakhpur is set to become a stronger node in Uttar Pradesh’s green mobility network, paving the way for a cleaner, smarter, and more sustainable urban future.
