In a strategic move to accelerate electric vehicle (EV) adoption in India, HPCL & Mahindra Join Forces to set up a nationwide network of ultra-fast EV charging stations. This partnership is part of Mahindra’s ambitious Charge iN program, designed to strengthen the country’s EV charging ecosystem and provide a seamless ownership experience for electric vehicle users.
Expanding EV Charging Infrastructure
Mahindra, one of India’s leading EV manufacturers, is teaming up with Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited (HPCL), a state-owned energy giant with over 24,400 retail fuel stations. HPCL already operates more than 5,400 EV charging points under its HP e-Charge network. By leveraging this extensive footprint, the collaboration aims to make charging facilities more accessible and convenient for EV users across urban centers and highway corridors.
Ultra-Fast Charging for Modern EVs
The charging stations will feature 180 kW dual-gun DC fast chargers, enabling two vehicles to charge simultaneously. These chargers are designed to power Mahindra’s upcoming electric SUV portfolio, such as the XUV 9e and BE 6, from 20% to 80% in approximately 20 minutes. By combining speed and efficiency, the network addresses range anxiety and enhances the overall EV ownership experience.
Strategic Rollout and Accessibility
The plan is to establish 250 charging stations with over 1,000 charging points by the end of 2027. The infrastructure will be strategically placed along major highways and in key urban hubs. While optimized for Mahindra’s “Born Electric” models, the network will be accessible to all EV brands via the Charge iN app and other aggregator platforms. Mahindra owners can conveniently locate, charge, and pay using the Me4U app, ensuring a smooth and reliable charging experience.
