Mandya district has taken a major step toward sustainable transportation with the inauguration of its first public electric vehicle (EV) fast-charging hub. Set up by Chamundeshwari Electricity Supply Corporation Limited (CESC) at its Circle Office in Mandya, the facility marks a significant boost to local EV infrastructure and signals strong institutional support for green mobility.
A Milestone for Mandya District’s Green Transition
The charging hub was officially inaugurated on 22 January by CESC Chairperson and MLA Ramesh Bandisidde Gowda, in the presence of Deputy Commissioner Kumar and CESC Managing Director Munigopal Raju. Senior officials, including Technical Director D.J. Divakar and Chief Engineer Mrutyunjaya, along with other officers and staff, also attended the event.

Addressing the gathering, Gowda highlighted the rising adoption of electric vehicles in recent years and stressed their importance in reducing air pollution and cutting dependence on imported fossil fuels. He noted that CESC is actively encouraging EV usage by investing in robust charging infrastructure and promoting green energy initiatives.
Key Features of the New EV Fast-Charging Hub
The facility has been strategically established at the CESC Mandya Circle Office to serve both local commuters and travellers passing through the region. At present, it is equipped with a 30 kW DC fast charger and a 7.4 kW AC charger, enabling efficient charging for different types of electric vehicles.
A key advantage of the hub is its ability to charge up to three four-wheelers simultaneously, reducing waiting times and improving convenience for users. Importantly, the infrastructure has been designed with future growth in mind. CESC plans to upgrade the station to a 240 kW super fast-charging facility, which will significantly cut charging durations as EV adoption increases.
Easy Access Through Digital Platforms
EV owners can access the charging service using the Instacharge mobile app, which allows users to locate the station, initiate charging sessions, and make payments seamlessly. The charging equipment for the hub has been supplied and installed by Epic Power, ensuring reliable and modern technology.
Regional Impact and Future Expansion
The launch strengthens EV adoption across Mandya district by providing dependable public charging access and encouraging private players to invest in similar facilities. This hub follows the recent inauguration of an EV fast-charging centre at the CESC head office in Mysuru, reflecting a broader regional rollout plan.
With Karnataka already leading India’s EV infrastructure growth, the initiative further reinforces Mandya district’s role in supporting cleaner mobility and a more sustainable transport ecosystem.
