This isn’t just another electric two-wheeler — it marks the entry of a textile giant, Jindal Worldwide Limited, into the electric mobility sector. With cutting-edge in-house design, advanced battery technology, and a commitment to safety, the R40 is poised to challenge the norms of urban commuting. Curious about how a denim powerhouse is electrifying India’s streets? Read on to explore everything about the R40, from performance specs to its upcoming launch plans.

A Major Leap from Textiles to Electric Mobility

Jindal Worldwide Limited, one of the world’s leading textile and denim fabric manufacturers, has now made a strategic entry into the electric vehicle (EV) segment. This diversification marks a significant shift in the company’s business direction, reflecting its commitment to innovation and sustainability.

The EV venture began after Jindal Worldwide acquired Earth Energy EV in 2022, a move that laid the groundwork for the development of its first electric scooter — the R40.

Introducing the R40: Power Meets Efficiency

The Jindal Mobilitric R40 is designed to offer both performance and practicality for Indian riders. The e-scooter boasts a 165 km range on a single charge — one of the highest in its segment. While official specifications are awaiting government homologation, reports suggest that the R40 could offer a top speed of 75 km/h, making it ideal for both urban and semi-urban commuting.

The company has submitted the model for regulatory approval, and commercial launch will follow once it receives the green light from authorities.

State-of-the-Art Manufacturing in Ahmedabad

To support large-scale production, Jindal Mobilitric has established a modern manufacturing facility in Ahmedabad, Gujarat. The plant has an impressive annual capacity of 2.5 lakh vehicles, demonstrating the company’s long-term commitment to the EV space.

Alongside the main plant, Jindal has also set up an in-house battery manufacturing unit with a similar capacity. This integrated approach ensures greater control over quality, safety, and cost-efficiency, a key differentiator in the competitive EV market.

Dealer Network and Expansion Plans

Currently, Jindal Mobilitric operates through 35 dealerships across India. However, the company has ambitious expansion plans — targeting a network of 100 dealerships within the next year.

Once regulatory approvals are in place, the R40 rollout will commence immediately, enabling the brand to establish a strong presence in India’s rapidly growing electric mobility sector.

Expected Pricing and Availability

While Jindal Mobilitric has not yet disclosed the official price, industry sources suggest that the R40 may be priced around ₹1.05 lakh. This places it in a competitive bracket, appealing to both daily commuters and environmentally conscious riders seeking performance and affordability.

A New Chapter for Jindal Worldwide

By venturing into electric mobility, Jindal Worldwide is not only diversifying its portfolio but also contributing to India’s green transportation goals. The R40 symbolizes a fusion of engineering excellence, sustainable innovation, and the ‘Make in India ‘spirit.

Further details about the R40’s features, variants, and launch timeline will be shared on the company’s official website and social media channels after homologation approval.

With this launch, Jindal Mobilitric is poised to make a remarkable entry into India’s evolving EV market — driving the nation toward a cleaner and smarter mobility future.
