The Mercedes-AMG E53 Hybrid India Launch marks a significant step for Mercedes-Benz in the country’s luxury performance segment. Priced from ₹1.45 crore (ex-showroom), the Mercedes-AMG E53 Hybrid 4MATIC+ combines a turbocharged six-cylinder petrol engine with electric power, delivering supercar-like performance while offering more than 100 km of pure-electric driving range.

The new performance-focused plug-in hybrid is available in two variants: the Performance Edition at ₹1.45 crore and the Racing Edition at ₹1.48 crore. It is also the first electrified AMG sedan from the E-Class family to arrive in India, expanding the brand’s growing plug-in hybrid portfolio.

585 HP Hybrid Powertrain

At the heart of the Mercedes-AMG E53 Hybrid 4MATIC+ is a 3.0-liter turbocharged inline-six petrol engine producing 449 hp. It works with a 120 kW electric motor integrated into the AMG SPEEDSHIFT TCT nine-speed transmission.

Combined output stands at 585 hp and 750 Nm, while the temporary RACE START function can increase power to 612 hp. The performance figures are equally impressive, with the luxury sedan accelerating from 0-100 km/h in just 3.8 seconds.

The top speed is electronically limited to 250 km/h, although buyers opting for the AMG Driver’s Package can raise it to 280 km/h.

100+ Km Pure-Electric Range

The Mercedes-AMG E53 Hybrid India Launch also brings a substantial electric-driving capability. Its 28.6 kWh battery has 21.2 kWh of usable capacity and enables more than 100 km of pure-electric range under the WLTP cycle.

The E53 Hybrid can travel at speeds of up to 140 km/h in electric mode. Charging support includes 11 kW AC charging and up to 60 kW DC fast charging, giving owners flexibility for both home and public charging.

AMG Performance Meets Advanced Handling

Power is delivered through the fully variable AMG Performance 4MATIC+ all-wheel-drive system. Active rear-axle steering, which turns the rear wheels by up to 2.5 degrees, improves agility at lower speeds while enhancing high-speed stability.

The car also gets AMG RIDE CONTROL adaptive damping, an electronic limited-slip rear differential and dynamic engine mounts.

Premium AMG Design and Cabin

The Mercedes-AMG E53 Hybrid India Launch brings distinctive AMG styling, including an illuminated Panamericana grille, wider front fenders, and 20-inch alloy wheels.

Inside, AMG sports seats feature red contrast stitching, while the MBUX infotainment system offers hybrid-specific displays and TRACK PACE data tracking. A 730-watt Burmester 4D surround sound system with 17 speakers and Dolby Atmos adds a premium audio experience.

With its combination of 585 hp performance, 100+ km electric range and advanced AMG technology, the E53 Hybrid offers a compelling answer to the question of whether electrification can coexist with performance.
